Underneath a Fairytale

This 1957 East German film is known for being "the most frightening thing ever shown on children's television".
Incredible DIY set designs, extravagant costumes and a simple but riveting storyline (based on a Brother's Grimm fairytale) keep this oddly familiar yet foreign movie mesmerizing to the very end.

Jori Sackin will give a lecture on the underlying behavioral truth claims that are embedded in fairytales which will include metaphors of performance, containment and why we associate truth with love.
