THE HORROR POD CLASS is a monthly free screening hosted by Orrin Grey and Tyler Unsell where they seek out horror films that could be useful in a school setting. Screenings start at 7pm with a live podcast recording taking place after.
Prolific screenwriter-turned-director Carlos Enrique Taboada kicked off a "series of films that revitalized the genre" with this classic ghost story. "Taboada's films are some of the first to depict modern-day Mexico as the space of gothic horror," writes Kerry Hegarty. Even the Wind is Afraid's story of a haunting in a girls' boarding school not only helped to change the face of horror in Mexico, it also continues to inspire modern day directors, including Guillermo del Toro, who has cited Taboada as an influence. Also, let's be real, it has one of the best titles in horror history.

Costarring John Doe of the legendary punk band X and the great Karen Black as a has-been lounge singer, Todd Stephens's cult favorite puts a queer, outsider spin on both the road movie and the coming-of-age journey, with plenty of black eyeliner to spare.
As the “Disneyfication” of New York City takes root, a morbid grad student (Taylor) is bitten by a vampire seductress (Annabella Sciorra) and must navigate the shadows while tempering her growing addiction to blood. In the midst of his most prolific, hard-hitting burst of filmmaking (basically that whole decade), notorious provacateur Abel Ferrara (MS. 45, KING OF NEW YORK) crafted this loving portrait of New York and a hellish portrait of heroin filtered through the darkest poetic lens. Filmed beautifully in black and white, THE ADDICTION sees Ferrara on his own terms and at his very best: raw, shocking, intelligent, and masterful.

Amped by a mix of Iranian rock, techno and Morricone-inspired riffs, its airy, anamorphic, black-and-white aesthetic and artfully drawn-out scenes combine the simmering tension of Sergio Leone with the surrealism of David Lynch.
