Staring: Susan Berman, Richard Hell, Brad Rijn
Self-involved and fearless Wren (Susan Berman) runs away to New York determined to be a punk rock star, only to discover that the scene is drifting to Los Angeles. Broke but adamant on achieving her goal by any means necessary, Wren steals and schemes around 1980s downtown NYC, meeting and manipulating fellow wanderers Paul (Brad Rinn) and Eric (Richard Hell, legendary punker) along the way.
Shot on 16mm film and featuring a soundtrack (the Feelies, Voidoids, ESG, and more) equally as iconic as Wren’s bright red lipstick, fishnets, and stolen checkerboard sunglasses, Susan Seidelman’s debut feature is a staple of the underground film movement known as No Wave Cinema.
